Hillary Clinton’s Autism Plan

Hillary Clinton used the first stop on a two-day, post-Thanksgiving swing through Iowa on Saturday to lay out a $700 million a year plan to help people affected by autism. The money would be spent for research and provide support for families and teachers dealing with the disorder, as well as for autistic children and adults.

“My Child has Autism: I’ll Launch a Crusade!”

Acceptance

“Hi Laura. Just giving you a heads up. There was a program last night on this cable channel about miracle treatments for autism. Something about a hyperbaric chamber, and there was another treatment-chelation I think they called it. They also mentioned the diet thing, so you might be getting some calls. I’ve already gotten a few. Talk to you soon!”

This first phone message, from my brother Scott, was followed by three others, all from well-meaning friends.

For every famous person that learns that their child is autistic, there is a new crusade(follow this link) and parents like me feeling guilty if we don’t jump on the bandwagon.
